Matcha is a traditional Japanese beverage. It is in powder form which makes it ideal for cookery as well tea.
Matcha is a time-honored beverage which is source of vitamin A, vitamin B-complex, vitamin C, Vitamin E, vitamin K and trace minerals. Matcha is rich in components with super antioxidant activity including polyphenols, catechins and chlorophyll. Presence of amino acids such as L-theanine and theophylline in the matcha tea makes it a multi nutrient-packed drink.
Health Benefits of Matcha
Chlorophyll present in matcha tea accentuates its effectiveness in cleansing process of the body. Chlorophyll is an excellent detoxifier which helps in cleansing the blood. It aids in maintaining the alkalinity of blood and tissues. Chlorophyll also helps in preventing the association of harmful toxins with colon walls and flushes them out of the body.
Drinking Matcha Green Tea has also been shown to increase metabolism and help the body burn fat about four times faster than average. Again, unlike many diet aides currently on the market, Matcha causes no negative side-effects such as increased heart rate and high blood pressure.
Stronger immune system:
Matcha contains various antioxidants, polyphenols, EGCG, L-theanine which collectively contribute in boosting the immune defense of the body and helps provide protection against various antigens.
A research study assessing the antioxidant power of matcha tea has revealed that as compared to other green teas matcha has the highest amount of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), an extremely healthful component with numerous benefits. These antioxidants seek out for the oxygen free radicals and neutralize their harmful effects thereby, protecting the body from the occurrence of disorders or inflammations associated with the oxidative stress.
Matcha contains a healthy form of caffeine not to be mistaken with the one present in the regular coffee. This unique form caffeine known as theophylline sustains the energy levels without any adverse effects. The slow release of energy due to theophylline helps in supporting the functionality of adrenal glands and maintains optimum hormonal levels.
Green tea can help reduce all levels of cholesterol, including LDL (bad) cholesterol, thereby reducing your risk of heart disease, which is inextricably linked to cholesterol levels
Prevent Some Cancers:
Brew up a cup to reduce your risk of ovarian, breast, prostate, or endometrial cancers, and research continues to be conducted on other types of cancers. People who have already been diagnosed can slow the growth of these cancers too.
To prepare a perfect bowl of Matcha tea you simply need to:
1. Boil fresh, soft water
2. Let the water cool down to 80°C (e.g. open kettle and wait for 10 min or pour the water at least 4-5 times into another cold pot – water looses 4-5° C with each decanting).
3. Put 1g Matcha (2 bamboo scoops or ½ tea scoop) into the Matcha bowl
add up 80ml of hot (80°C) water
4. Whisk the tea with a small whisk, a fork or a Matcha whisk until a fine froth appears. It will take you around 15 seconds to prepare your cup of Matcha tea. Honey can be added to taste.
